Third anniversary of war in Ukraine: Russia launches largest drone attack yet
Marking three years since the invasion, Moscow unleashes 267 suicide drones, while Zelenskyy urges the West to stand united against Russian aggression.

Russia attacked Ukraine with more than 200 drones on the night between Saturday and Sunday, in what was described as the largest air attack since the outbreak of the war, Reuters reported.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, 138 of the drones were shot down, while another 119 disappeared from radars after being disrupted by electronic warfare, according to the Ukrainians. In addition, Russia launched three ballistic missiles, and as a result of the attack, damage was reported in five different districts across Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy tonight condemned Russia's "aerial terrorism" and called for unity among Ukraine's allies, alluding to tensions with the United States.
"Our people face aerial terrorism every day," Zelensky wrote on X, adding that "the night before the third anniversary of the all-out war, Russia launched 267 drones at Ukraine — the largest attack since Iranian drones began striking the country's cities and villages."
Over the past few months, Moscow has intensified its air attacks on an almost nightly basis, with the aim of undermining Ukraine's air defense systems. Zelenskyy noted that over the past week alone, Russia has launched nearly 1,150 attack drones, over 1,400 guided bombs, and 35 missiles of various types toward Ukraine.
As we reported last week, Russia is using a loading tactic on Ukraine's air defense systems at a specific point, with the aim of maximizing the damage and challenging the systems.
Zelenskyy praised Ukrainian air defense operators and called on the international community to remain united to ensure a "just and stable peace." "This is only possible through close cooperation between all partners — we need the power of all European nations, the strength of America, and the power of all those who want true peace," he said.
At the same time, there is growing concern among Ukraine and its European allies following a verbal attack by US President Donald Trump against Zelensky last week. In addition, a meeting held in Riyadh between American and Russian representatives, to which Ukraine was not invited, raised additional concern in Kyiv.
