LYFT DRAMA GOES VIRAL: Size Matters When It Comes to Suspensions
Instead of a smooth ride home, a Lyft customer got a physics lesson about vehicle weight distribution that nobody ordered – and she's not impressed.

In a viral moment that has the internet divided, plus-size passenger Dajua Blanding found herself in a standoff with a Lyft driver who took one look at her and another look at his already-sagging compact car and decided today wasn't the day to test his vehicle's suspension limits.
The drama unfolded when the driver decided to channel his inner vehicle whisperer and express concerns about his car's ability to handle the journey. Blanding, not exactly thrilled with this assessment, did what any 2025 citizen would do: whipped out her phone, started recording, and turned it into social media gold.
The resulting video, which shows the driver trying to explain his car's delicate relationship with gravity, has since gone viral. Blanding has now lawyered up, while Lyft is doing the corporate equivalent of "no comment" with extra words.
Lyft, meanwhile, responded with the corporate equivalent of "we need to talk about this offline," stating: "Lyft unequivocally condemns all forms of discrimination," before presumably hiding under their desk until their lawyers figure this out.
Meanwhile, social media has been having a field day. Former rideshare drivers are coming out of the woodwork with their own tales of suspension woe. "I actually had 3 overweight men bottom out and ruin my shocks," shared one ex-Uber driver, presumably still paying off their repair bill.
The incident has sparked a broader conversation about rideshare etiquette, vehicle safety, and whether anyone actually reads those weight capacity stickers in elevators - let alone cars. As one Instagram sage put it: "I'm big too and I know some cars I have no business in. That car was already low to the floor."
The controversy continues as lawyers sharpen their pencils and social media users sharpen their memes. One thing's for certain: this might be the first time a car's suspension has been the star of a viral video that didn't involve a hydraulics competition.
