Earlier today (Thursday), the IDF identified a number of suspected terrorists taking weapons from military structures used by Hezbollah onto vehicles.
IDF aircraft then struck the vehicles to eliminate the threat presented by the weapons and terrorists.
Watch:
The IDF said that it continues to be committed to the ceasefire with Lebanon, while also continuing to be deployed in order to prevent any threat to the IDF or the State of Israel.
Since the ceasefire began, the IDF has conducted multiple strikes against terrorists trying to infiltrate southern Lebanon bearing arms or taking weapons from known Hezbollah warehouses.
In addition, as the army has withdrawn, it has identified, seized and destroyed tens of thousands of arms and items of military equipment identified in a large number of localities throughout southern Lebanon, often hidden in private houses or property, as the IDF discovered during its ground operations in the area.
The IDF is reportedly set to withdraw from most of the rest of southern Lebanon over the course of the next two weeks, with a withdrawal from the western, central, and eastern sectors in succession, each withdrawal taking five days each.
The Lebanese Army is meant to then take over security control of these areas and will be responsible for ensuring the complete demilitarization of southern Lebanon and preventing Hezbollah from using any part of it as a base for their soldiers or weapons.
However, the same reports note that the IDF plans to hold three strategic, unoccupied hills in southern Lebanon which would provide it with an important vantage point over the region, identifying potential threats and shielding Israeli territory.
Defense Minister Israel Katz has repeatedly warned that unless Hezbollah stays entirely behind the Litani River and the Lebanese Army fully enforces demilitarization of southern Lebanon, the agreement will no longer be in force and war will be renewed.
