President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday attacked California Governor Gavin Newsom for offering him a plan to rebuild California's water infrastructure, but he refused: "He doesn't care about the people. Now they are paying the price."
According to Trump, Newsom refused to sign the water restoration declaration that was placed before him, which would have allowed millions of liters of water from excess rain and snow melting from the north to reach many areas of California every day, including the areas that are currently burning.
"He doesn't care about the people of California. Now they are paying the ultimate price. I will demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean, and fresh water to flow into California! He was to blame for it. On top of everything, there is no water for fire hydrants or firefighting planes. A real disaster!"
Southern California continues to deal with three major fires that threaten the lives of residents and many neighborhoods in the area. The fires, accompanied by strong winds and extreme dryness, led to the evacuation of more than 80,000 people from various areas of Los Angeles County.
The largest fire, known as the Pacific Palisades Fire, burned about 3,000 hectares in a few hours, due to strong winds, which reached up to 100 kilometers per hour, and the harsh dry conditions that contributed to the rapid spread of the fire, causing at least 30,000 residents to receive evacuation orders.
