An American citizen, Travis Timmerman, has been unexpectedly freed during rebel operations in Syria, according to Walla News. Timmerman, who had been missing for seven months after disappearing in Hungary, was discovered wandering barefoot in the Syrian capital following a rebel assault.

According to reports, Timmerman's ordeal began during what appears to have been an adventurous journey through the Middle East. After vanishing from Hungary seven months ago, he reportedly attempted to enter Syria illegally, leading to his capture and imprisonment by regime forces.

When rebel forces stormed several government detention centers, freeing prisoners as part of their broader offensive in Syria. Timmerman's cell was breached on Monday, ending his months-long imprisonment.

The American's discovery walking barefoot through Damascus streets marks a ahppy though unexpected conclusion to his disappearance.

Officials have not yet commented on Timmerman's current status or plans for his return to the United States.
