Boxer Floyd Mayweather was reportedly attacked by a mob in central London after expressing support for Jewish people, the Daily Mail UK reported on Tuesday.
The incident occurred while Mayweather was shopping at a jewelry store in Hatton Garden. According to sources cited by the Daily Mail, a member of the crowd asked the boxer if he supported Israel. Mayweather responded by saying he was “proud to support the Jews,” which allegedly provoked one individual to swing a punch at him.
“I couldn’t really see Floyd trying to throw any punches back. His guards were just trying to get distance between him and them,” a source told the Daily Mail. Video footage shared on social media platform X shows Mayweather shouting back at the crowd as his security team escorted him out of the area.
The altercation comes just days after Mayweather launched a charity initiative to support Israeli orphans. On Sunday night, he announced the program on Instagram, following an earlier Standing Together event in Israel.
“Over the next year, every orphan in Israel will be visited by the Floyd Mobile and receive special birthday gifts,” Mayweather wrote. “To all the widows and orphans: keep your heads held high as we honor the cherished memories of those who have passed.”
Mayweather has been outspoken in his support for Israel following the events of October 7 and was one of the first celebrities to visit the country after the massacre.
