French President Emmanuel Macron responded today (Sunday) to the fall of Assad's regime in Syria, strengthening the Syrian people in his words and committing to continue working for the security of the Middle East.
"Finally, the barbaric regime has fallen," Macron wrote on platform X (formerly Twitter). "I commend the Syrian people for their courage and patience." In these moments of uncertainty, I send them my wishes for peace, freedom, and unity. France will remain committed to the security of the entire Middle East.
Earlier today, elected U.S. President Donald Trump referred to the fall of Assad's regime, claiming that it happened thanks to Israel and Ukraine, which significantly weakened Russia and Iran. "Assad is no more." "He fled his country," Trump said. "The countries that defended him and Russia under Putin were no longer interested in defending him." There was no reason for Russia to be there in the first place. They lost all interest in Syria because of Ukraine.
Trump noted that "Russia and Iran are currently in a weakened state, one due to Ukraine and a poor economy, and the other due to Israel and its success." Also, Zelensky and Ukraine would like to make a deal and stop the madness. I know Vladimir well. It's his time to act. China can help. The world is waiting."
