Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian today (Monday) regarding the escalation of fighting in Syria. Putin expressed his support for Bashar Assad and his regime in the conflict.

According to Iran International, "unconditional support was expressed for the actions of the legitimate authorities of Syria to restore constitutional order and to restore the political, economic and social stability of the Syrian State."

Russia has reportedly been providing air support for Assad's forces against the rebel forces, while Iran is sending some manpower and weapons to Syria, according to an interview with IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari for Sky News Arabic.

MK Avigdor Liberman said earlier today that Israel cannot be a passive actor in the conflict, and must be actively involved to keep away possible threats to its borders.
