In a video statement he released today (Sunday), Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof spoke with him on the phone immediately after Netanyahu heard of the Amsterdam pogrom, saying that he was "ashamed" that the pogrom took place on Dutch soil.
Netanyahu said that he told Schoof to go after the attackers in the pogrom with the full force of the law, and that he should protect the Dutch Jewish community.
Netanyahu also said that he had instructed Transportation Minister Miri Regev to fly some 2,000 Israelis from Holland back to Israel, and that he has instructed the issuance of new security instructions for all Israelis travelling abroad.
He then said that what starts with Jews does not end with Jews, and that every "responsible" government must act to nip this violence in the bud before it becomes uncontrollable.
