World leaders extended congratulations to Donald Trump on Wednesday, November 6, following his declared victory in the US presidential election.
French President Emmanuel Macron was the first to refer to him as "President Donald Trump," expressing his readiness to continue collaboration with the US leader "with respect and ambition," much like during their previous four years of cooperation.
Macron added in a post on X that the upcoming relationship with Trump would be based on mutual respect for their differing convictions, aiming for "more peace and prosperity."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed Donald Trump's likely election as a fresh start for the US-Israel alliance. "Congratulations on history's greatest comeback! Your historic return to the White House marks a new beginning for America and a strong reaffirmation of the great alliance between Israel and the United States. This is a huge victory!" Netanyahu said in a statement released by his office.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also praised Trump's "impressive victory" in the election, highlighting his "peace through strength" approach to global affairs. Zelensky suggested that this principle could play a crucial role in achieving peace in Ukraine.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte also congratulated Trump, stating that his return to leadership would benefit the alliance. "His leadership will again be key to keeping our Alliance strong. I look forward to working with him again to advance peace through strength through NATO," Rutte said in a statement.
