As polls closed for the U.S. presidential election, samples released in the U.S. show that a large majority of the Jewish community voted for the Democratic candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris.

The data show that tradition has been maintained among American Jews, who have voted regularly for Democrats for the past 30 years. According to an NBC News sample, Harris received 77 percent of the Jewish vote to Trump's 22 percent. The Fox News sample also showed a majority for Harris, but with a lower approval rating — 67 percent for the Democratic nominee to 31 percent for Republicans.

Jewish support for the Democratic Party comes despite widespread disappointment among parts of the community with the party's attitude toward Israel and the anti-Semitic attitudes of some members of the party's progressive wing – especially in the past year since the outbreak of the wars in Gaza and Lebanon.
