A Lebanese security source told Al Jazeera that the communication devices were pre-rigged with explosives. He stated that the weight of the planted explosive did not exceed 20 grams. He further explained that the devices were received about five months ago and that an investigation is underway into how the explosive was activated. Additionally, exclusive sources informed Sky News Arabia that the Mossad planted PETN explosives in the devices' batteries and detonated them by increasing the battery temperature. According to the report, the Mossad managed to access Hezbollah's communication devices before they were transferred to the organization.
