In a bold political move, the Trump campaign has repurposed a recent interview with Vice President Kamala Harris as their "newest ad," capitalizing on what they say are missteps and contradictions in her responses.

Interview Sparks Controversy

The interview was conducted by ABC News Philadelphia affiliate WPVI 6, and covered a range of hot-button issues including gun control, economic policy, and national unity. As with everything in this presidential run, Harris' answers to several key questions have become focal points for criticism and debate.

Where does she really stand on gun control?

When pressed on gun control, Harris reaffirmed her support for an "assault weapons" ban, while saying that people should be entitled to own a gun. This statement has surprised people, particularly in light of her previous dispute with Donald Trump during a debate: He claimed she wanted to ban guns and she said he was lying. Critics argue this apparent shift in messaging undermines her credibility on the issue.

Economic Policy Concerns

Harris' response to a question about reducing costs for everyday Americans has also drawn scrutiny. Instead of outlining specific policy proposals, the Vice President spoke about her middle-class upbringing. This tangential answer, while poignant, seemed to be both evasive and also to present zero concrete solutions to pressing economic challenges.

Unity Message Meets Skepticism

In an attempt to position herself as a unifying figure, Harris made the surprising move of citing an endorsement from former Vice President Dick Cheney. She also claimed that Donald Trump is the only political figure who "points fingers," a statement that the Trump campaign was quick to challenge.
