Der Spiegel reported today (Thursday) that European intelligence bodies foiled a number of Iranian attempts to carry out terrorist attacks against Jewish institutions in France and Germany.

According to the report, a terrorist cell recruited by Iran carried out arson attacks in France and even spied after targets inn Germany for Iran. One of the cell members was even arrested in France on suspicion of espionage.

An armed attacker opened fire today outside the Israeli consulate in Munich on Thursday morning, coinciding with the 52nd anniversary of the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre. German police quickly neutralized the threat, with no reported injuries.

The incident occurred around 10:00 local time. The assailant, armed with an M-16 rifle, approached the consulate and began shooting. Police officers stationed nearby responded immediately, engaging and neutralizing the attacker.

The ISIS weekly paper published an editorial this week entitled "Jihad in Europe" calling on its members to commit terrorist attacks against Jews throughout Europe over the war, according to Kann 11 News reporter Roi Kais.

The editorial beseeched its members to use "murder and arson" against Jewish targets, and it used recent ISIS terror attacks such as the stabbing attack in Solingen, Germany which killed three people as a model for others to follow.
