Ghulam Reza Gudarzi, a 76-year-old American and Iranian citizen, was arrested last weekend at the Texas airport in the USA on suspicion of smuggling aircraft parts and UAVs from the United States to Iran.
According to the suspicion, the smuggling of the components was done for years. "Smuggling endangers US national security by potentially increasing Iran's military capabilities, allowing it to advance its air combat potential, increase regional power and threaten US allies and interests in the Middle East," said the US attorney., Almadar S.
"The illegal smuggling of sensitive U.S. technology to a foreign nation endangers our national security and undermines the integrity of our trade laws," said Senior Assistant Director Robert Wells of the FBI's National Security Branch. "The United States does not tolerate the illegal smuggling of our advanced technology to our adversaries, and the FBI will work with our partners to vigorously pursue and bring to book those who break our laws and put our country at risk."
