France arrests suspect in synagogue arson attempt
The arsonist had set fire to several synagogue doors, as well as a number of nearby cars. One police officer had been injured by the fires.


French authorities announced today (Sunday) that it has arrested a man suspected of trying to set a synagogue in the south of France on fire, according to France 24.
The arsonist had set fire to several synagogue doors, as well as a number of nearby cars. One police officer had been injured by the fires. The suspect also reportedly exchanged fire with police officers and was wounded in the face.
According to the report, the suspect, a 33 year old Algerian, was arrested in the southern French town of Nîmes.
No other details were provided.
Current caretaker Prime Minister Gabriel Attal previously said on X that the arson attempt "is an antisemitic attack. Once more, our Jewish compatriots are targeted."
