Unexpected pressure was put on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu regarding the hostage deal, when today (Wednesday) it was reported that Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, asked Netanyahu to refuse the hostage deal in order to help him in the campaign, according to Judy Woodruff, a reporter for the American TV channel NewsHours.

According to the report, the former president asked the Prime Minister of Israel to refuse a kidnapping deal because such a deal would be seen as an achievement by Kamala Harris and would help her campaign against him. The report comes during the Democratic Party convention during which Harris is supposed to be officially chosen as the Democratic candidate for the presidency of the United States.
