Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian spoke today (Monday) with French President Emanuel Macron regarding the planned Israeli retaliation against Hezbollah for the Majdal Shams attack.
According to Iran International English, the Iranian President said that Israel's plans for retaliation "could backfire and have severe consequences for the Zionists themselves," while Macron said that Iran had "a role to play to avoid escalation in the Lebanon-Israel tension by halting support to destabilizing players," according to the French readout of the call.
Two days have passed since the Hezbollah rocket attack on Majdal Shams killing over 10 children, and one day has passed since the security cabinet authorized Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant to decide what steps to take in response.
Rumors are swirling as to exactly what Israel will do to hit Hezbollah back, but most reports suggest a major strike, and the question remains as to whether it will lead to general war in the north.
