French authorities have launched an investigation into a disturbing letter that tested positive for the bubonic plague and was addressed to Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.

The letter, discovered at a mail-sorting center, was flagged due to several suspicious features, including its lack of postage and mysterious inscriptions on the back. Staff at the sorting facility became concerned about the letter’s unusual appearance and content, prompting them to alert the police immediately. The investigation aims to uncover the origins and motives behind this alarming threat.

Authorities who opened the suspicious letter sent to French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin found it contained black powder and offensive racist language.

Testing later confirmed the presence of bubonic plague, a disease notorious for its historical impact on Europe. However, a local prosecutor has suggested that there is still a chance the initial test results might be incorrect, and further testing will be performed to ensure accuracy.
