Axios: Top Democrats believe Biden is approaching a decision to bow out

This assessment is based not only on the heavy pressure being put to bear on the elderly President to drop his bid for reelection but also his increasing openness to listen to the possibility.

The effort by Democratic party insiders and leaders to get President Biden to drop out may enjoy success by the weekend, according to reporting by Axios.

While the President has thus far been firm in his insistence on staying in the race, he has reportedly been increasingly open to listening to those who think he should leave the election.

Nevertheless, only Biden can decide whether to stop running. There is no legal mechanism to force him out of the party leadership against his will. So if he decides to drop out, how he does it will say much about who inherits the mantle of leadership and how the party recovers to run against Trump and the Republicans.
