Thomas Matthew Crooks, the would-be assassin of former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania last week, may have used an air-conditioning vent to get around Secret Service snipers present in the building he use to shoot at Trump, according to CBS.

Per the report, Crooks was spotted at least three times near the building whose roof he would use to try and kill Trump. He was reported each time but disappeared quickly afterwards.

There were reportedly snipers inside the building Crooks used as a vantage point, and law enforcement officers believe he may have used an air conditioning vent to get around them.

Multiple questions remain as to how Crooks was able to operate almost unhindered until he began firing his rifle at Trump, with Republicans in the House preparing to investigate the Secret Service for possible security failures leading to Trump's brush with death.
