Following the second round of Parliamentary elections which led to no political bloc having a majority, President Emanuel Macron issued an open letter calling for "mainstream political forces" to form a coalition across party lines yesterday (Wednesday), according to France 24.

The leftwing political bloc, the New Popular Front, rejected this call, saying that a Prime Minister should be appointed from their parliamentary bloc, which is now the largest, as per French political tradition.
