President Biden's decision not to supply Israel with offensive ammunition for the operation in Rafah is gaining worldwide traction. A picture of Biden and Netanyahu appears on the cover York Post with the words "betrayal" emblazoned on it.
Israeli sources, meanwhile, emphasized once again that the war in Gaza will continue despite pressure from the White House. Foreign Minister Israel Katz tweeted on his X account: "Israel will continue to fight Hamas until it is destroyed. There is not a more just war than this."
Finance Minister and cabinet member Bezalel Smotrich also responded to the decision: "On the eve of our 76th Independence Day, we are reminded that our War of Independence is not yet over," he stated.
According to him, "We had to make the very declaration of the establishment of the state despite the strong opposition of Marshall, the Secretary of State in the Truman administration, and despite the arms embargo imposed by the US on the newly formed state, and we must continue this war until victory despite, and to some extent precisely due, to the opposition of the Biden administration and the halting of arms shipments. We simply have no other choice that would not endanger our existence and security."
"Two critical things we must do now: 1. Continue the war in Gaza until the destruction of Hamas and the return of the hostages. This involves the full occupation of Rafah here and now. 2. Maintain our unity at all costs. Only together can we stand against our enemies and the great international pressures exerted on us to surrender," he added.
