Egypt: Israeli businessman was murdered for criminal reasons

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the background to the murder of the Israeli businessman in Alexandria was criminal - not a terror attack.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the background to the murder of the Israeli businessman in Alexandria yesterday (Tuesday) was criminal - not a terrorist attack.

"On May 7, a Canadian businessman, permanently residing in the country, was exposed to a criminal shooting in Alexandria. Legal steps were taken and a team was formed to reveal the circumstances of the incident," said the ministry.

The Ministry also reported that the murdered man possessed Canadian-Israeli citizenship. The Israeli Embassy in Cairo is in contact with local authorities who are investigating the case.

Yesterday, Israel Hayom reported that according to Arab media, the man, whose name was Ziv Kipper, worked in Egypt for nine years, operating a large business.
