The official account of the Iranian Embassy in the United Nations on the X Network referred yesterday (Thursday) to tensions with Israel and threats of an imminent attack - and claimed that if the United Nations had condemned strike in Damascus in which Quds Force Commander Mohammad Reza Zahedi was eliminated, Iran would not be forced into launching a revenge attack.
As you may recall, last night an Iranian diplomatic source told the Lebanese "Al-Akhbar" network that Iran may not attack Israel in response to the assassination in Syria last week. However, the source also claimed that at this stage no final decision has been made on the matter.
According to the source, "if a ceasefire is reached in Gaza and Israel does not attack Rafah, Iran is ready, in order to reduce escalation and tensions, not to take any action against Israel at this stage - but a decision has not yet been made on this proposal."
The source added that Tehran "has come to the conclusion that Israel is in the process of breaking out of the deadlock in Gaza by creating new crises." According to him, Israel is trying to force a direct confrontation between Iran and the US.
