Former US President Donald Trump was interviewed yesterday (Monday) by Israel Hayom. Trump discussed the Gaza war and said that Israel should end it as soon as possible. He said he supported the war in the beginning, but explained that the images and videos coming out of Gaza mean that Israel is "losing a lot support in the world."
"You have to end your war. You have to end it. You have to do it, and I'm sure you will. We have to reach peace. We can't let this go on," Trump said. "Israel needs to be very careful, because you are losing a lot of the world. You are losing a lot of support. You need to finish, do the work and move forward to peace. You need to continue a normal life for Israel and for everyone else."
However, Trump made it clear that the problem has to do with a lack of PR on the part of Israel, and that he would have responded in a similar manner to the Hamas attack. "What I saw on October 7 was one of the saddest things I've ever seen," he claimed. "You have to be crazy or stupid not to act like that. It was a horrific attack."
He also claimed that the rise in anti-Semitism in the US has taken place, "because you fought back." "I think Israel made a big mistake that I saw every night," he continued. "I wanted to call and say 'don't do it'. Because it seems that the Israeli Ministry of Defense is showing these pictures, the [army] shooting, bombs being dropped into buildings in Gaza. And I said, 'That's a terrible portrait. It's a bad image for the world.'''
