FT: Defense CEO calls for European version of Iron Dome

The aim of a European defense system of this kind would be to help defend against the increasing Russian threat.

The CEO of Rheinmetall, Europe's largest minutions maker, has recommended that European countries install an Iron Dome-like short range missile defense system to cope with the increased threat from Russia, according to the Financial Times

Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger told the Financial Times that “I also think that it is a good idea to have a European solution similar to Iron Dome and beyond."

While some consider blanketing Europe in short range defense systems like Iron Dome to be fanciful, others do not as Europe increases its defense spending in the face of the Russian threat, especially the missile threat shown to be lethal in its war on Ukraine.
