French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his desire to send NATO troops to Ukraine to help in the war against Russia.
The French leader told the Le Parisien that, "Sending soldiers to Ukraine is one of the scenarios we have to prepare for. It would be a mistake not to do so."
"It is possible that at a certain point, and I don't want that, we will need a ground operation, and France has the power to do that."
After Vladimir Putin was re-elected as Russia's President yesterday (Tuesday), he referenced Macron in his victory speech. "It is clear to everyone that a conflict between Russia and NATO will only be a step towards a full-scale World War III," adding: "I don't think anyone is interested in that."
Putin also fired back at Macron. "When your soldiers return in coffins covered with the French flag, I don't think the French will be happy," he was quoted as saying.
