Israel-Gaza War, Saudi Arabia
The Saudi request in exchange for normalization
During a visit by Minister Ron Dermer to the US, the Saudis submitted a request that a Palestinian currency be recognized in an effort to advance regional normalization.

In order to advance normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel, the Saudis asked Israel to make the gesture of recognizing a Palestinian currency. According to a report by journalist Suleiman Maswadeh, the Saudis’ request arose during a visit by Minister Ron Dermer to the United States and was also discussed by the Prime Minister.
A week ago, the Saudi Foreign Ministry stated that their country would not form diplomatic relations with Israel until a Palestinian state in the 1967 borders with a capital in East Jerusalem was established, and until the “Israeli aggression” in the Gaza Strip ended.
