In order to advance normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel, the Saudis asked Israel to make the gesture of recognizing a Palestinian currency. According to a report by journalist Suleiman Maswadeh, the Saudis’ request arose during a visit by Minister Ron Dermer to the United States and was also discussed by the Prime Minister.

A week ago, the Saudi Foreign Ministry stated that their country would not form diplomatic relations with Israel until a Palestinian state in the 1967 borders with a capital in East Jerusalem was established, and until the “Israeli aggression” in the Gaza Strip ended.
