NSC Spokesperson John Kirby told CNN that the United States is preparing a "very consequential response" to the drone strike killing three US soldiers and injuring dozens more in northeastern Jordan yesterday (Sunday).

Kirby said that the administration was "working our way through the attribution and what group was specifically responsible for this" and that "we have a pretty good sense" that the group responsible was a major IRGC-backed militia in the Syria-Iraq area which has already launched multiple attacks on US troops throughout the region.

He did add that the US did not want war with Iran.
