Yad Vashem Criticizes Russia: "A serious distortion of the Holocaust"

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement accusing Germany of "Nazi policy" for standing with Israel at the Hague. Yad Vashem openly protested this comparison.

Following Russia’s attack on Germany in standing by Israel against South Africa’s genocide charge at the Hague as “Nazi policy,” Yad Vashem attacked the Russian Foreign Ministry: “Yad Vashem views the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry as a serious distortion of the Holocaust.

“Contrary to what has been claimed, the Holocaust was a systematic and unprecedented genocide, committed by Nazi Germany and its partners with the aim of destroying the Jewish People. This fact is backed up by innumerable testimonies, documents, and studies. It is incredible that Russia, which confirmed two UN resolutions on the subject, distorts them for the purpose of cheap use.

“The Russian Foreign Ministry would do well if it left the Holocaust aside when it seeks to engage in political bashing, and in general base its statements on unquestioned historical facts.”
