US CENTCOM: Houthi Missile Strikes US-owned Ship in Red Sea

An hour ago today (Monday), US Central Command announced in a post on X/Twitter that a ballistic missile fired from Houthi-controlled areas struck a Mashall Islands-flagged and US-owned and operated container ship. The ship suffered no casualties and significant damage and continued on its journey.

This is the latest possible escalation in an increasingly tense conflict between Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, who are trying to destroy or bar the way of any ship sailing the Red Sea trying to reach Israel or which is affiliated with Israel, and the United States, which seeks to protect all shipping through the Red Sea via Operation Prosperity Guardian.
