The Egyptian "Al-Cahira Al-Ahbariya" network reported that an aircraft was intercepted in the skies over the town of Dahab in Sinai, and shot down about two kilometers from the coast. Residents of the city said that explosions were heard in the area.
This is the third time that an interception has been reported in Egypt since the beginning of the war in Gaza. A similar incident occurred in the area about two weeks ago, when an unmanned aerial vehicle was intercepted by the Egyptian defense system. A short time later, the spokesman for the Houthis in Yemen claimed that "we carried out a military operation against sensitive targets in the Eilat area, using a large number of UAVs."
Last October, it was reported that an unidentified drone fell near a hospital building in the town of Taba, with six people slightly injured in the incident. At the same time, a rocket was reported to have fallen near a power plant in the Nuweiba area. The Egyptian army clarified that "after it is discovered who is responsible, Egypt will keep all options, and the right to respond at the appropriate time."
