A strong earthquake was felt in central China, there are reports of damage to buildings and many dead trapped under the rubble.
Earlier this morning, an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale was felt in Haidong Province in north-central China. According to the reports of the official authorities in China, so far at least 118 dead have been located as a result of the earthquake, with another 600 injured and dozens missing in the ruins.
Earthquakes of this type are considered common in central and western China, and cause many deaths over the years, especially as a result of poor construction and the use of cheap materials in the construction of public buildings and infrastructure, which is customary in many areas of China as a result of the population growth that the country experienced in previous decades.
Many buildings were damaged and a significant number of buildings collapsed in the earthquake, which is considered the deadliest in recent months.
