Turkish Media: Jews "Plotting" to Take Over Northern Cyprus Through Land Purchases

Turkish media has been pushing a conspiracy theory that Israelis are seeking to buy up Northern Cyprus, which Turkey occupies, and take it over "like Palestine."

Turkish media in Turkish-occupied Northern Cyprus have been pushing an antisemitic conspiracy theory alleging Israelis are seeking to buy up the land in the country to take it over, ostensibly as they did in the Land of Israel.

Recent reports of a foiled attempted terrorist attack by Iran against Israelis in Cyprus have turned people's attention to the island. According to reporting by Mako News, Turkish media outlets have been pushing a conspiracy theory claiming Israelis are trying to buy up all the land in Turkish-occupied Northern Cyprus.

The allegations themselves are apparently weak, as it is actually Iran that is number one in buying land in the area, with Iranians apparently free to enter the north and subsequently the south without a problem. Israelis are twelfth in buying up land in the Turkish enclave.

Not strictly true whilst Iranians are the number one buyers they are mostly Jewish Iranians and also a lot of Israelis cloak their purchases by not registering them at the land registry or using front companies set up by Turkish lawyers.
