German police forces conducted a wide-ranging raid today (Thursday) on dozens of homes and structures tied to Hamas and the Samidoun organization, which works in Germany to free Palestinian prisoners. According to the local interior ministry, the forces raided 15 homes and found evidence of terror ties.
German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser said that the raids were conducted to enforce the prohibition on Hamas and Samidoun activity in the country. “We will continue to take harsh steps against extremist Islan,” she said. “The raids today send a clear message: we will not in any case accept aid or support for the barbaric terror of Hamas against Israel.”
At the beginning of the month of November, Germany became the first to prohibit Hamas activity inside its borders, also banning the activity of the Samidoun association, which works to free Palestinian prisoners. “Antisemitism has no place in Germany,” Faeser said in her statement on the ban. “We will fight it in all its forms and with all the means of the constitutional state.”
