The White House addressed the use of the hospitals in the Gaza Strip by Hamas terrorists this evening (Tuesday), and officially adopted Israel's position that the terrorist organizations use the hospitals for terrorist purposes and also hold hostages there.
"The United States has intelligence that Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists have used hospitals to hide their operations and hold hostages," said White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby. According to him, "Hamas hid weapons in various hospitals, including Shifa Hospital."
He also said that "We do not support the bombing of a hospital, and we do not want to see a battle in the hospital. The actions of Hamas do not reduce Israel's responsibility to protect civilians. However, Hamas operates a command center in Shifa Hospital, and prepares for an Israeli military operation from there. The way Hamas used Shifa in Gaza for the sake of command and control - is a war crime."
