Israel-Gaza War, US-Iran Tensions

US Strikes Again in Syria in Response to Iranian Proxy Attacks

US Secretary of Defense said that these strikes were focused on Eastern Syrian bases used by Iranian or Iran-backed forces attacking US personnel.

According to a report by the Long War Journal run by the Foundation for Defense of Democracies or FDD, America launched its third round of strikes against Iranian proxies in the Middle East, in response to multiple attacks on US personnel in the region fighting against ISIS.

Six or seven Iranian proxy fighters are reported to have been killed in the strike.

The FDD believes that at least 46 strikes have been carried out on American bases in Iraq and Syria by Iran-backed forces, and that this number may be an underestimate due to both failed launches and a desire by the Biden administration to downplay the problem in an attempt to prevent escalation.
