The New York Times published a statement in which it defended the photographer employed by it, who was published as having taken part and had prior knowledge of the Hamas infiltration.

After it was revealed that photographers who frequently work with Western networks participated in the infiltration of Israel, and that the reporters apparently had prior knowledge, the New York Times comes to the defense of the photographer in their employment "the photographer did his job and documented the tragedies."

The New York Times opened their statement by denying that officials from the newspaper had prior knowledge of the attack or had received any indication of it, but immediately afterward the newspaper backed up their photographer, Yosef Masoud, claiming that he "did his job by documenting tragedies as they unfolded."

This message comes in contrast to the message of the media body CNN, which was also accused of having contact with journalists related to the issue and cut off contact with the reporters completely.
