Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov addressed the riots that occurred last night at the airport in Dagestan this morning (Monday) and claimed that an "external influence" led to the riots in which hundreds of people searched for Israeli passengers on a plane that landed at the site.
"Russia's enemies used the information and the terrible images from Gaza to incite and motivate people. This external influence led to riots," Peskov claimed. He also noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to hold a special discussion this evening about the riots and "the West's attempts to divide Russian society".
As mentioned, last night there was a report of huge riots at the airport in Dagestan, this in search of an Israeli passenger plane that landed there. From the moment they heard about the plane's landing, many Muslims began rioting in the streets, surrounding the airport, searching for Jews in vehicles that left the airport and confronting the security forces there.
In the end, the Jewish and Israeli passengers were smuggled back to the plane, which was immediately instructed to take off again after it was quickly fueled on the ground. In several reports and documents, the rioting Muslims are seen breaking onto the runway and running towards the plane moments before it begins to take off.
This morning the police announced that they had arrested 60 suspects who took a prominent part in the riots, out of 150 people identified. "The riots constitute a blatant violation of the law, even when the citizens sympathize with the suffering of the victims of the actions of politicians and evil people, and pray for peace in Palestine," claimed the governor of the Republic of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov. "There is no courage in the waiting of a crowd for helpless people, who have not done anything illegal."
