The Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador for a conversation of protest, following Russia’s conduct in recent weeks in its embrace of Hamas and its actions in international forums.
Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Victorov was summed by the Foreign Ministry to Jerusalem for a conversation of protest, due the visit of the Hamas delegation to Russia and Russia’s actions in the UN and other international forums.
Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Ministry’s Eurasian Department, Ambassador Simona Halperin, made it clear to the Russian Ambassador that Israel views the absence of an unequivocal and clear condemnation of Hamas by Moscow and its conduct in international forums with great severity.
The Foreign Ministry also noted that the hosting of Hamas leaders, responsible for the massacre committed in Israel on October 7, the crimes against humanity they committed, the kidnapping of hostages, and the murder of over 1400 Israelis, strengthens the status of the organization and delivers a message of legitimacy for terrorism.
