Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump made a series of joint statements today (Monday) regarding trade, the hostages, and Iran.

During those statements, Prime Minister Netanyahu said that Israel intends to eliminate the trade deficit with the United States very quickly, saying that it is the right thing to do, and that he hopes that Israel will serve as a model for the world in this matter. He also said that Israel will remove additional trade barriers, which he said were put up by Israel "unnecessarily."

Netanyahu also spoke about rapidly reducing tariffs on American goods, something which he and Finance Minister Smotrich completed the day before Trump announced the series of tariffs of "Liberation Day" on April 2.

Netanyahu called Trump a "great champion" of the alliance with Israel and the Jewish People.

Kann News had previously reported that Netanyahu hoped to get the tariffs removed by showing that Israel is already set to purchase a great deal of defense equipment in 2025, meaning that it will not have a trade deficit or as large of one in that year.
