Sink or swim, the duchess isn’t backing down
Meghan Markle is launching her new podcast today - Will it give her the break she desperately needs?
Meghan Markle just can't seem to get a break these days. But does she really deserve one?

Meghan Markle’s latest podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, launches today with Lemonada Media, but experts warn it’s a high-stakes gamble for the Duchess of Sussex. The 43-year-old aims to share business advice with female entrepreneurs, promising tips to turn “small ideas into billion-dollar businesses,” she told People. Yet, she can't quite seems to get away from the shadow of royal drama and past flops.
British broadcaster Helena Chard told Fox News Digital the Sussex brand is “toxic” to many, marked by disputes and chaos. “No one wants to touch a toxic brand,” she said. The podcast could shine if it delivers real wisdom, but Chard fears it’s heavy on “giggling girl talk” instead. “Meghan needs this to work,” she added, noting the duchess’s Netflix cooking show tanked and her Spotify deal fizzled in 2023.
The Spotify split came after Archetypes, a 2022 series that topped charts in seven countries but ended with mutual agreement and a jab from executive Bill Simmons, who called the couple “grifters.” Royal expert Hilary Fordwich labeled the new podcast a “high-stakes gamble,” pointing to “universal derision” and a shaky track record. “Another failure limits her revenue options,” Fordwich warned.
Since stepping back as senior royals in 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry have chased independence in Montecito, California, raising their kids, Archie and Lilibet. Their Netflix docuseries, Harry’s Spare memoir, and a recent Vanity Fair exposé, claiming Meghan turns “cold” when projects falter, haven’t dodged scrutiny. Her With Love, Meghan series and As Ever brand show promise, with honey selling out in minutes, but branding expert Doug Eldridge said she’s still missing the mark. “She’s got lines in the water, but no bait,” he told Fox News Digital.
It often seems like Megan is the woman we love to hate. She's either too fake or too real. She's either an actress or a princess who walked away from royalty. However hard she tries, she just can't seem to find favor in the eyes of the public. She should take a page from her mother-in-law's book. Diana captured everyone's hearts without even trying. Maybe if Meghan stopped trying to be everything all at once and was just her genuine self, people would like her more.
Chard predicts Meghan will push forward regardless. “Her influencer path is set,” she said. “People will tune in: Harry’s wife keeps the spotlight.”
