WATCH: What was Yair Horn's very first request after captivity? The answer will surprise you

The joy remains incomplete. Horn's younger brother Eitan, captured alongside him from Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7 attack, remains in captivity. The stadium flyover, while celebrating one brother's freedom, served as a reminder of the ongoing struggle to bring all hostages home.

In a poignant testament to the human spirit's resilience, Yair Horn's first taste of freedom included a detour over his beloved soccer team's home ground. After 498 days in Gaza's tunnels, the recently released hostage made an unexpected request: to fly over Turner Stadium in Beersheba, home to his cherished Hapoel Beersheba team.

The Israeli Air Force pilots obliged, circling the helicopter over the stadium as Horn, accompanied by his family members dressed in the team's signature red, made his way to Tel Aviv's Ichilov Hospital for medical evaluation. This simple yet profound moment marked Horn's transition from captivity to freedom, connecting him to a piece of his pre-October 7 life.

Despite his frail appearance after more than 16 months in Hamas captivity, Horn's request spoke volumes about his enduring spirit. His hospital room would later be adorned with team paraphernalia, including a personalized jersey, creating a warm cocoon of familiar comfort for his recovery.

The timing proved serendipitous - on the day of Horn's release, Hapoel Beersheba secured a decisive 4-0 victory against Ironi Tiberias. The team celebrated both wins on social media, welcoming home one of their most dedicated supporters while marking their success on the field.
