Following reports that left-wing organizations in Israel are under Congressional investigation for allegedly undermining Israel's democracy, Professor Moshe Cohen-Eliya says that protest leaders are under pressure.

In an interview with 'Galei Israel' radio today (Sunday), he said: "What appears to be happening is that the administration is defining the protest not as an action to save democracy, as we were sold by the left, but rather - note this - as nothing less than a rebellion against a democratic government that is an ally of the United States.

"It sees this as subversion that creates democratic instability, and it also adds in this harsh letter that there is harm to the civil rights of Americans and Israelis. In other words, we have a complete change of front from the Trump administration, which marks the protest as rebellion."

He added that "this is dramatic, and people in the protest movement are shaking with fear. The best strategy to bend these extreme, crazy people within those deranged factions is simply to affect their visas and connections to the United States. It's a disaster from their perspective."

Jewish Insider reports that the House Judiciary Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee are jointly investigating six organizations that received federal funding during the Biden administration to determine if those grants were intended to target Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s political standing during the 2023 judicial reform protests

The letters announcing the probes, obtained by Jewish Insider, were sent by Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH), chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and Brian Mast (R-FL), who chairs the Foreign Affairs Committee, to the Jewish Communal Fund, Middle East Dialogue Network, Movement for Quality Government in Israel, PEF Israel Endowment Funds, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and Blue and White Future on Wednesday evening.

Each of the groups allegedly received federal funding and was reportedly directly or indirectly involved in supporting the judicial reform protests.

Many of these organizations continue to seek to further entrench the unelected power of the legal system.
