France, Egypt, Jordan: Palestinian Authority must rule post-war Gaza
Trio of regional and global powers urges Palestinian Authority to govern post-war Gaza, rejects any political role for Hamas, and firmly opposes forced displacement of Palestinian civilians.

During a high-level summit held in Cairo on Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and Jordan’s King Abdullah II issued a joint call for the Palestinian Authority (PA) to take control of Gaza once the war between Israel and Hamas concludes, according to AFP.
In a unified statement, the three leaders declared: “Governance, law and order, and security in Gaza, as well as in all Palestinian territories, must be the sole responsibility of a strengthened Palestinian Authority.”
Speaking alongside President Sisi, President Macron underscored France’s opposition to the forced displacement of Gaza’s population. He expressed support for an Arab League-endorsed reconstruction initiative, calling it a viable path toward both rebuilding the territory and reestablishing a legitimate Palestinian leadership.
“Our government has done crucial work on this plan, which offers a realistic path to the reconstruction of Gaza and should also pave the way for new Palestinian governance,” Macron said.
Macron also emphasized France’s firm stance against any future political role for Hamas in Gaza, stating, “Hamas must have no role in this governance, and must no longer constitute a threat to Israel.”
While Hamas has suggested it may hand over civil administration to independent technocrats, the group has shown no intention of disarming or fully relinquishing power.
The trilateral summit concluded with a renewed call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Egypt, along with Qatar and the United States, had helped broker a previous ceasefire agreement in January. However, that agreement collapsed after Hamas refused to release more hostages and rejected a framework proposed by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff.
