Gergely Gulyás, the minister in the Hungarian Prime Minister's Office, announced that Hungary has decided to leave the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, citing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming visit to Hungary.

This decision comes after the ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant last year. Gulyás revealed that the Hungarian government will begin the process of withdrawing from the ICC starting Thursday.

Hungary will be the first ICC member state to host Netanyahu, and the government has made it clear that Netanyahu will not be subject to arrest during his visit.

Last November, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced that he would invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit Hungary, stressing that the arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court (ICC) would not be enforced.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Defense Minister Galant, and Hamas terrorist leader Mohammed Deif for "war crimes and crimes against humanity."

Orbán, who is also president of the European Union for a six-month term, expressed his opposition to the ICC's arrest warrant, which he called "wrong." In a conversation with state radio, he said that Netanyahu would be able to fly to Hungary "with adequate safety."
