Heartbreak in Chabad: Rabbi Shneur Zalman Auerchman perishes in horrific car crash 

The Chabad-Lubavitch community is reeling from a devastating tragedy following the sudden passing of Rabbi Shneur Zalman Auerchman, a dedicated Chabad emissary, who was killed in a fatal car accident on the coastal road.

The family made the following announcement:

It is with great sorrow and grief that we were informed this morning (Wednesday) of the tragic and sudden passing of the emissary, Rabbi Shneur Zalman Auerchman, who perished last night in a horrific car accident on the coastal road.

The deceased was born to his father, Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Auerchman, the chief emissary to the Krayot and director of the Chabad houses there, the rabbi of the Sha'arei Moshe Central Synagogue in Kiryat Yam and chairman of the committee for the writing of the Sefer Torah HaKlali.

He dedicated his life to mission and love of Israel, served as a member of the General Committee of the Sefer Torah, and devoted himself to the registration of our brethren Bnei Yisrael in the Torah scroll. He spread the light of Torah, Chassidism and Judaism to all those around him with endless devotion. His noble character, his strengthening smile and the wide heart that he knew how to listen and encourage – will forever be engraved in the hearts of everyone who has had the privilege of knowing him.

The deceased is survived by his wife Shtachi (of the Lasker family), four young children – the eldest is only eight years old, his father, and brothers and sisters who mourn his untimely passing.
