Ofer Winter: "We don’t draft Haredim by force and we don’t push Judicial Reform by force"

Ofer Winter addressed the conscription crisis and the reinstatement of judicial reform laws, stating: "We don’t push judicial reform by force, and we don’t draft Haredim by force." Winter emphasized: "Our representatives in the Knesset were elected to find solutions, not to drag us into a civil war."

Reserve Brigadier General Ofer Winter, who left the IDF a few months ago and whose candidacy to head the Gaza Migration Administration is currently being considered, addressed two of the most pressing issues on the agenda: judicial reform and the conscription of Haredim.

Ofer Winter held a joint discussion with members of the "Victory Generation Reservists" movement during a tour they conducted along the eastern border. Winter opened by saying: "The army’s role is to win, to defeat, and to take initiative. When war is forced upon it, it must achieve victory quickly and not bog down reservists in months of a war of attrition. Through disagreements, we build ourselves."

Winter added and argued: "Whoever wants to lead the State of Israel needs to lead all of the people of Israel, needs to know how to connect and unite with people who don’t think like me. Our representatives in the Knesset were elected to find solutions and manage, not to bring us to a civil war. We don’t push judicial reform by force, and we don’t draft Haredim by force."

Reserve Major Gilad Ach, chairman of the "Victory Generation Reservists" movement, said: "On Passover eve, at the place where the people of Israel entered the Land of Israel in the plains of Jordan, we held a tour to strengthen the settlers of the area in their top-tier Zionist efforts. In these days when we mark the exodus from slavery to freedom, we call on the Israeli government to persist until the final defeat of Hamas. The path to achieving victory will involve exacting a territorial price from the Gaza Strip, by and through enabling the migration of the Strip’s population."
