Iron Dome successfully intercepts the rockets, no injuries reported

Update: For the second time today sirens sounded in Sderot, as yet another missile is fired from Gaza

Two rockets were fired from Gaza at southern Israel this evening (Monday), triggering Red Alert sirens in Sderot and nearby communities along the Gaza perimeter.

Updated attack: this time the sirens were due to a single rocket that was launched and intercepted. This follows a similar attack earlier, where two rockets were launched from Gaza toward the Sderot area and were also intercepted.

The attack took place just after 7 p.m. Israel time, as tensions continue to rise following the recent resumption of military action against Hamas.

The military wing of Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the rocket launches. Fortunately, both projectiles were intercepted by the Israeli Air Force’s Iron Dome defense system, preventing any casualties or damage. According to Magen David Adom, no injuries have been reported, though some individuals suffered minor injuries while rushing to protected areas due to panic triggered by the alarms. The Iron Dome's success in intercepting the rockets ensured the safety of the affected communities.

This rocket fire marks the third attack from Gaza on Israel since the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) resumed its offensive against Hamas in the region last week. The situation in the Gaza Strip remains volatile, with heightened tensions and frequent exchanges of fire between Palestinian militant groups and Israeli forces.

Israel’s military continues to maintain a high level of preparedness in the face of these threats, and the Iron Dome system remains a key asset in protecting civilian populations from rocket attacks. While there have been no reported casualties from today’s incident, the attack serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by residents of southern Israel.
